Scaling up Arctic conservation: why large marine ecosystems should drive ecosystem-based marine conservation
Achieving effective Arctic conservation demands a shift toward integrated, ecosystem-based management (EBM). This perspective highlights a critical need to move beyond isolated conservation and management approaches, advocating for convergence at ecologically meaningful spatial scales. Large Marine Ecosystems (LMEs) offer a compelling framework, given their ecological relevance and transboundary nature, requiring coordinated action among Arctic states.
