Fatty acid profile, nutritional potential and biological activity of green macroalgae from the Northern Tunisian coast
Marine macroalgae from the Northern Tunisian coast present a diverse lipid composition, making them a valuable source of essential nutrients. This study evaluates ten species from the Ulvophyceae class, revealing significant fatty acid profiles with potential health benefits, including cardiovascular protection and antimicrobial properties. Gas chromatography was employed to analyze fatty acid content, revealing varying levels of saturated fatty acids, with Codium tomentosum showing the highest abundance.
