Fish assemblages play a crucial role in maintaining island ecosystem health, yet comprehensive diversity analyses in China’s island waters remain limited. A recent study evaluated taxonomic, functional, and phylogenetic diversity across eight Zhejiang islands, revealing significant variation—with northern islands exhibiting the highest values. Structural equation modeling highlighted a positive relationship between marine environmental factors and diversity (0.675), a negative socioeconomic impact (-0.173), and an indirect, negative climate influence (-0.456).
