Spring Fjords in Fjaerland, Norway

| After a few days in Bergen last May, my friend and I rented a car and set out for the fjords near the small town of Fjaerland. The drive went through these beautiful green valleys and tree-covered mountains. We stayed at the Fjaerland Fjordstove Hotel, a charming spot right on the water that feels more like a large cottage than a hotel. Nearby, there are flower fields, sheep grazing in pastures, and dozens of waterfalls. One of the highlights was the hotel’s on-site restaurant. We had one memorable dinner with fresh fish from the fjord and wild garlic picked earlier that day. Beyond its natural beauty, Fjaerland is unique as a designated "book town." It’s common to see open-air bookshelves, little libraries, and small shops devoted to books. In the end - I just enjoyed wandering around and it really felt like time slowed down for a few days.
