Scotland on a budget?

hi all,

my sister and I are planning to go to Scotland in about a year for around 10 days . ive never been to a country this expensive other than my own (usa). what is a good budget to stay in a mid range hotel, meals, activities? we drink but not a lot, most of our trips are more outdoorsy and hike based.

is a car needed? I'm nervous to drive on the left side of the road but can get over it if this will improve my trip.

I'm trying to keep it under 3000 euros for the two of us, not including flights. is this feasible? we are in our 30s so not trying to stay in a hostel unless its a private room.

I know this can all be googled but id rather ask real people on here.
