The United States has sent a third aircraft carrier strike group to the Middle East as military operations against Iran continue.

The USS George H.W. Bush left Naval Station Norfolk in Virginia on March 31 along with its strike group.

The deployment includes more than 6,000 personnel and a number of Arleigh Burke-class destroyers. Officials said it could take several weeks for the carrier to reach the Middle East.

Once it arrives, it will join two other US aircraft carriers already linked to the region. The USS Abraham Lincoln is currently operating in the Arabian Sea and is involved in ongoing military operations.

The USS Gerald R. Ford had to leave combat duty after a fire and is now in Europe after completing repairs. It had been at a base on Crete and is currently docked at a port in Croatia.

US officials said all three carrier strike groups are expected to remain deployed in or near the Middle East for now. This is a rare level of naval presence in the region.

At the same time, the US has increased troop deployment. Thousands of soldiers from the 82nd Airborne Division have started arriving in the Middle East. Around 2,500 Marines were also sent over the weekend. Officials have not shared details about their exact role.

The deployment comes as the US government says there has been some progress in talks with Iran, but it has also warned that military action could increase if no agreement is reached soon.

The US says talks with Iran have made some progress, but it has also warned that military action may increase if no deal is reached soon.

President Trump said during an event at the White House that the US could end military operations within two to three weeks. He also said that talks with Iran are ongoing, but added that the outcome does not depend on whether Iran joins negotiations.

According to him, Iran has suffered heavy damage and would take years to recover, claiming that its naval and air capabilities and communication systems have been severely affected.

The conflict has already started affecting global shipping. Iran has managed to restrict movement through the Strait of Hormuz, which carries a large share of the world’s oil supply. The disruption has raised energy prices and made shipping in the area riskier.

Some ships have slowed down or changed routes due to safety concerns. The situation has also raised insurance costs for vessels operating in the Gulf region.

The conflict has continued since late February, when Iran’s leadership, including Ali Khamenei, was reportedly killed in an attack along with several senior officials. Since then, there have been ongoing strikes and counterattacks involving US and allied forces.
