Trip Peru Bolivia plan
Hi everyone,
I’m planning a 19-day backpacking trip to Peru and Bolivia (Sept 19 → Oct 7) and would love some feedback on my itinerary before I start booking everything.
Here’s the plan:
Sept 19–20 – Lima
- Arrival + 1 full day (Miraflores, Barranco, food, chill)
Sept 21 – Fly to Cusco
- Rest day (altitude acclimatization)
Sept 22 – Cusco
- Easy day, explore city
Sept 23 – Sacred Valley (Day 1)
- Pisac (ruins + market)
- Ollantaytambo (sleep there ideally)
Sept 24 – Sacred Valley (Day 2) + train
- Maras + Moray in the morning
- Train to Aguas Calientes
- Night there
Sept 25 – Machu Picchu (6am entry)
- Circuit 2
- Afternoon chill + return to Cusco
Sept 26 – Rest day in Cusco
Sept 27 – Rainbow Mountain
- Early tour (I know it’s high altitude, will decide based on how I feel)
Sept 28 – Fly to La Paz
Sept 29 – La Paz
- Explore + cable cars
Sept 30 – Oct 2 – Uyuni Salt Flats (3-day tour)
Oct 3 – Back to La Paz (rest)
Oct 4 – Buffer day (flexible / travel)
Oct 5–6 – Lima (end of trip, relax)
Oct 7 – Fly home
Main questions:
- Does this feel too rushed anywhere?
- Is 2 days in the Sacred Valley a good call vs 1?
- Rainbow Mountain the day after Machu Picchu (with 1 rest day in between) — reasonable?
- Is it worth trying to squeeze in Lake Titicaca, or better to skip?
- Any obvious logistical mistakes?
I’m traveling backpacker-style, not luxury, and I’m fine with early mornings but want to avoid unnecessary exhaustion.
Thanks a lot 🙏
