Body oil before body lotion to glow from within
I started moisturising my whole body (almost) every day after showering a year ago. Not a habit that I was taught in my family. I was wondering for so long why my elbows were hurting and cracking, my legs looked like crocodile skin and I was getting cold burns around my ankles in the winter (at the time of skinny jeans-exposed ankles). For some years, I was only moisturising once in a while for "self-care" evening, thinking that was enough lol
Now, it is a mandatory daily step for hygiene and beauty.
There is to me nothing more beautiful than people with glowing skin. I still need to exfoliate more often for the full effect (I still have bumps on my hips, butt, inner knees, back of arms, and backne - I use a dry brush, an African net or a natural loofah when I remember - advice welcome).
I usually do lotion and then oil while I'm still wet (keep them in the shower if needed, it's honestly a pretty quick process - wash hands and skincare while it dries down).
But recently, I learned from Brazilian and Black content creators (shoutout to juliadamataa and kthru.12 on tiktok) to oil before lotion. Everyone in the comments keeps repeating that oil seals, so always after lotion. But it doesn't hurt to try huh
Well, after some days, I noticed that whenever I get to my shower in the morning, my torso is still glowing. My skin is completely dry (as in there is no more product on it) and not greasy but it looks like silk when it hits the light. Previous method was good, but that is just a step abooove
One more step unlocked to develop a grooming routine that works for me to take care of my beauty!
Please remember to utilise the products you already own and shop wisely, considering your needs and skin type. Repetition, tools and techniques are just as important. Beauty products are perishable goods.
