dealership changed the amount I paid for a car on the title so they can underpay taxes.
So a few years ago, I bought a car from a dealership in Location: Kentucky, USA. Today, I got a notice from the Department of Revenue that I didn't pay the sales tax on said vehicle. I had up-to-date tags on the car I paid my taxes every year on time. Back in June, this car got totaled. I wasn't held at fault for the accident, so the car was completely paid off, and I transferred ownership to my insurance company so they can total the car, so I don't have the title. I went to my local county clerk's office with the notice and asked what was going on. She looked very concerned and told me that this has nothing to do with them but she's going to look into it for me. She printed off the title for me, and come to find out they put the incorrect sale price on the car. They said I only paid 2900 dollars for a 2010 Honda Accord. I paid 7950 for it. 2100 down and took out a loan. I have paperwork saying that the taxable amount should have been 7950, but then on the title it says- sale price 2900. I contacted my loan people got proof of the loan and then I called the DOR and they were no help. I don't want to pay this BS how tf do I get out of this and how do I handle this?
